Have you ever wanted to learn a foreign language but felt like it was too hard or you didn’t have the time? Or you’ve used a language learning app are wanting more personal connection and encouragement? Then one-one-one language coaching may be the way to go.

I offer language coaching in beginner and intermediate German, as well as beginning French. I can also customize what you learn based on what you want to do with your new language skills (travel, social, etc.)

I LOVE foreign languages, and particularly love French and German. I started self-teaching myself French when I was 5-years-old, listening to a Living Language course. As soon as I could take French in middle school I jumped at the chance. I also took German in high school after I was chosen to take a school-sponsored trip to Germany and Austria. I continued taking both languages in college, majored in German and eventually studied abroad in Salzburg, Austria. I lived and worked in Germany and Austria for two and a half years and my family and I go back to both countries regularly. I practice both French and German whenever I can, whether it be reading or streaming shows. I love language coaching because it is always exciting to help a language "click" with a client. Languages are like puzzles and once you figure out the patterns of a language it becomes a fun game. I would love to help you solve the puzzle!

I originally taught German at two well-known language schools, then branched out on my own and have been independent for the last 20 years, including teaching German to kids ages 6-12 at a one-room school!

My language coaching style involves helping you improve your writing, speaking and confidence skills. This involves a combination slogging through the grammar, but also helping you with your conversational style. Both are important, especially if you are interested in traveling, living or working in a German or French-speaking country. I do not feed you answers, but make gentle suggestions if you are stuck. Because I am not a native speaker, I feel I have an advantage because I can explain German and French from an outsider's perspective, which many have found helpful.
